2. To give false information

Discouraged over the direction the Douglas murder investigation is headed, Gregory Adams reaches out to Jamie Caissy for help.

Moving forward, Millie Douglas focuses on the relationship with her daughter, Sydney, and finds an unexpected new friend.

After the death of her son and loss of her beloved Gregory, Arianne Douglas spirals downward into a dark depression and finds a secret way to cope.

With the “Operation” still reeling from Nash’s death, the O’Malleys regroup and Sol takes the helm, but unbeknownst to him or his father, another “Operation” is in the works.

Everyone has a past. Each one a secret. The truth will set them free or ignite the spark for a slow burn.

The pieces are moving.

The Counterplay Series follows four intertwined South Louisiana families and their struggle for power, love, and revenge. Your move.

Within the Garden of Twilight

Temporary peace descends on the Deschanels in New Orleans. Loved ones have returned. A calm appears in the chaos. Life is, seemingly, back to normal.
Those who had been away look to establish their new routine. They trade intrigue for dinner parties. Survival skills for day jobs. Settling into a quiet life comes with a sense of long-awaited relief, and they want, desperately, to embrace it with open arms. To sit in silence in their gardens at twilight and dream a dream they dare not: One of health, happiness, and above, all family.

Yet under the surface lurks the shadows of their past, and the promises of tomorrow. A whisper in their ear, reminding them, “Soon.”

The Prophecy awaits. The Myths of Midwinter await. The Deschanel Curse is hungry. And far away, in Farjhem, an ancient showdown is underway. The end is near. Who will survive?
The Calm envelops the Deschanels, but The Storm grins in the twilight:

My review: 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

This book may be a mosterous 142k, but as a reader, you’ll breeze through it as if it were a 5000 word story. Within the Garden of Twilight is the 9th book in the House of Crimson and Clover series and like its predecessors, you should grab you a bag of chocolate and wine (LOTS of wine) and settle in for a few days of intrigue, mystery, drama, and magic. Cradit takes us on a journey across the globe, but very clearly makes it known that the heart of this story resides in New Orleans.

The reality that Within the Garden of Twilight is the second to last book in the series is bittersweet. This series has been one of my favorites for years and I’m sad to see its conclusion. On the other hand, I’m excited for #10 and beyond as the House of Crimson and Clover is a part of the overarching Saga of Crimson and Clover. So #10 isn’t a ‘goodbye’ as much as it is a ‘see you later.’

Dive into the secret, ancient, powerful world of two New Orleans families, the Deschanels and the Sullivans…

From USA Today bestselling paranormal author Sarah M. Cradit comes The Secrets Amongst the Cypress, Volume 8 in the bestselling witches family saga, The House of Crimson & Clover. Not a standalone story, Secret’s plot makes the most sense only after having the prior volumes.

Amelia and Jacob have landed in a very familiar where. The when is a whole other matter.

Jacob’s first experience time traveling leaves him and Amelia stranded in 1861 Louisiana on the cusp of the Civil War. With no luggage and no invitation, they find themselves at the mercy of Charles and Brigitte Deschanel, who, for now, believe they are cousins visiting from abroad.

The tragic circumstances which led them to flee the present now leave them both struggling to make sense of their own individual grief. Amelia’s sorrow drives her further from Jacob, and into the strange world of an eccentric man, Victor, who knows all too much about her. Jacob’s heartache leaves him cynical and weary, losing sight of who he is and was destined to become.

As the strange and terrible dynamics of the nineteenth century Deschanel family come to light, Amelia and Jacob are each drawn into the family’s complex web in myriad ways, challenging everything they held to be true. These revelations drive a deeper wedge between the couple, placing them in grave danger, from those around them… but also from themselves.

The hands of time have taken hold, and the clock is ticking. The longer they stay, the greater the risk of losing everything.

My review: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Sarah M. Cradit provides us with a fast, exciting read in the eighth novel from the House of Crimson and Clover series. The Secrets Amongst the Cypress is different (and more poignant) than any work I’ve read by this author. The book primarily follows Amelia and Jacob as they are catapulted into the antebellum South. Fans of the series will be pleased to meet characters we’ve heard about for years (Ophelie, Bridget, Charles, Jean) and introduced to newer, mysterious characters (Victor, Marius, Charlotte).

As always, it’s Cradit’s ability to reach within her characters and pull out their emotions that makes her one of the best writers out there. One special instance is Amelia and her response to a trauma she endured several books before and the care by which Cradit handles her recovery. Also noted is the realistic way her husband responds with anger, guilt, and finally acceptance and hope to move on. Secrets is at its heart, a story about finding truth.

This novel is best understood from the beginning of the series at The Storm and the Darkness. Recommended for anyone who enjoys intricate characters and intertwined storylines with a magic flare.

About Sarah:

Sarah is the USA Today Bestselling Author of the Paranormal Southern Fiction series, The House of Crimson & Clover. The series was born of her combined loves of New Orleans, family dramas, and the mysterious nature of love and desire. Her books combine elements of paranormal, mystery, suspense, intrigue, and romance. She is always working on the next book in the series, and absolutely loves connecting with her fans.
Sarah lives in the Pacific Northwest, but has traveled the world from Asia to Europe to Africa. When she isn’t working (either at her day career, or hard at work at writing), she is reading a book and discovering new authors. The great loves of her life (in order) are: her husband James, her writing, and traveling the world.

Dear Louisiana…

Dear Louisiana,

I know you are hurting. We are hurting too. From Bossier Parish all the way down to Vermilion Bay, and in the places in between. From Slidell to Natchitoches, Ruston to Houma. Every one of us who loves this great state sees your plight, and we’re here to shoulder the burden. Side by side. Arm in arm.

You’ve been knocked down and you might think no one cares. You’re on your back scared, afraid… drowning. You may believe all hope is lost and the sun will never shine again. Reach inward, Louisiana, dig deep and you will find the light inside of you.

You were born with an indomitable spirit, and though there are parts of you that sit below sea level, you rise. You are a mix of faiths and races and you march to the beat of your own drum. You draw us in with your southern hospitality and when we leave you, we find that we long to return.

You are lightening bugs and thunderstorms, crawfish and meat pies, evenings on the lake, sultry nights in the bayou, you are Christmas lights, Joyeux Noël and a dash of Tabasco in black-eyed peas. You are the perfect blend of jazz and country with a pop flare. You are loud and you must let the good times roll. You are a generous slice of King cake and we always want more. You are a second line band and a sportsman’s paradise. You are home.

Though it may be dark now, we see your tears, Louisiana, and we are crying along with you. We will not let you go through this alone, because when one of us falls, we all stand ready to help him up.

Stay strong.

Love,

Your people
